ECSA Open Division NewsFlash
Teams of the Week for June 12/13
There were no nominees in the B Division.
C Division Team of the Week: Sin
"The Seattle SIN came into the weekend at the bottom of the top half of the C-Division split and were faced with playing 4 teams that they had played and lost to this season. This weekend of play saw the SIN lose a key player (AJ Saenz) to a broken ankle...with this loss the team pulled together to win 3 out of 4 of those games and lose the 4th game by just 2 runs... The teams offense scored 67 runs while the defense gave up a total of 29 runs in 4 games and is celebrating another 10 win season!"
"The Sin played awesome defense and hit like crazy on the make-up game day, beating both the Seawolves and the Woodpeckers."
The Squadron were also nominated.
D Division Team of the Week: Green Machine
"Green Machine won their first game with a new pitcher (Eric Groemer) and beat Inferno, a team with 8 wins on the season."
"Green Machine took their first career win this Sunday against the Inferno by playing great defense and smart batting. Not too mention, it was the pitcher's first time pitching a complete game!"
"Green Machine won their second game of the day amassing their first win of the year with excellent team play and a late comeback after a nail biting loss by one run in the first game"
Wolves, Snap, and Muffin Tops were also nominated.
Players of the Week for June 12/13
There were no nominees in the B Division.
C Division Player of the Week: AJ Saenz (Sin)
"I nominate AJ from the Team SIN for sacrificing himself for the team win on Saturday. He ended up in the hospital after wrenching his ankle and could really use our support in the up coming weeks. Get better AJ!!!!!!!"
Matt Zavislak was also nominated.
D Division Player of the Week: Eric Goemer (Green Machine)
"Eric rocked the pitching this week. His first full week being the only pitcher on the Green Machine and he held up fabulously. He did not let the umpire's wierd calls get to him. Wierd is the mildest words to describe him by all 3 teams that played with this ump. He shrugged it off anytime he got a walk and kept on with the strikes. He was off the pitchers mound in a flash to catch at least 3 pop flys, He held our lead in the bottom of the last inning when the bases got loaded with 2 outs and calmly pitched and got the hitter out with a ground ball to 3rd. With an amazing arm, Eric held on and got the team thru a narrow loss to our first victory."
"Eric pitched two great games on Sunday keeping the games close. In the final inning of the second game when the Green Machine had to retire the side without allowing any runs, Eric had two quick outs and almost struck the next batter out but made him hit into an easy out. Excellent work pitching."
Brian Slegal, AJ Pierce, Brian Ruszkiewicz, Ghough Chan, Adam Whitaker, and Francisco Ruiz were also nominated.
Teams of the Week for June 19/20
B Division Team of the Week: Dirty Dawgs
"The Dirty Dawgs got their bats going and played some solid defense. They won both their games by an average of 14 runs."
The Shock were also nominated.
There were no C Division nominees.
D Division Team of the Week: Snap
"I wanted to nominate Snap for team of the week again, as they showed up 9-people fierce to win their last two games of the season. Every team knows how rough it is to play short, and Snap brought their best game to play together as a solid team in their wins against the Stealth and the Elite."
"For only having 9 players and winning both games and finishing off the season strong"
The Wolves were also nominated.
Players of the Week for June 19/20
B Division Player of the Week: George Aoyama (Shock)
"George pitched great for the Shock on Sunday going 2-0 allowing 6 & 5 runs in the two games. George has been an excellent to the Shock and the B Division this year."
Donny Moritz, Robert Ewaino, and Dustin Meers were also nominated.
There were no nominees in the C Division.
D Division Player of the Week: Kelly Meeks (Snap)
"Kelly Meeks from Snap deserves to be player of the week. She was involved in three double-plays over the two games as Snap's short stop, and was a key batter in both wins. Kelly has been just as amazing this season as she was in her rookie year."
Anthony Lopez and Jimmy Taylor were also nominated.
