Open League Team & Player of the Week

Teams of the Week

Award Atomic

Open League C Division

With only 9 players this week and taking an automatic out every inning, the Atomic put up a strong defense and strong bat against the Thrusters and Alleygators to lose only by 1 run. One team even went so far as to walk the last batter to secure their win in the last inning. Way to go Atomic and here's to a great season!

Award Rogues

Open League D Division

"--The Rogues, who have struggled to put all the pieces together this season finally did it in style! Down 5 runs in the last inning they rallied to tie the game in the top half and held the Rebels scoreless in their at bats. They then took the game into extra innings and took the lead when Mikel Von Hessen-Cassel drove in the winning run and sealed the win when he made the game winning catch, a fly to him in right field. Congrats Rogues! " "--The Rogues managed to snap a 6 game losing streak this week, rallying for 5 runs in the top of the 6th to tie the game, and scoring 2 in the 7th to pull out the win. All while managing to hold the Rebels scoreless for those two innings. Everyone on the Rogues played a huge role in the win, though some clutch hitting along with some timely defensive plays. "

Players of the Week

Award Greg Johnson - Atomic

Open League C Division

Greg showed true sportsman ship and a positive attitude this weekend. His bat was on and his fielding was even tighter. With the assistance from Tony Stasiek, Greg fielded a strong and hard third base line drive, tag out his runner, and made the double play at second.

Award Mikel Von Hessen-Cassel

Open League D Division

"--I'm pretty sure that someone from my team has gone and nominated him, but I'd like to add my nomination for Mikel Von Hessen-Cassel as player of the week. Mike is a first year player who is one of the, if not most improved players on the Rogues this year. All the hard work he put in over the course of the season came together in the final inning of the season. He started off by driving in the game winning run, and then out in the field he managed to make the final out of the game, sealing the win for the Rogues." "--Mikel earned this nomination for his great play this weekend. In the last game of the season, Mikel drove in the game winning run and made the catch that ended the game for a win that snapped the Rogues late season skid. Well done Mikel!!!"
