Game Summary

Date Field Time Opponent Outcome RE RA

From The Team:

For 32 years, the Emerald City Softball Association has organized LGBT teams.   New to the league in 2008, Seattle SNAP (Sober Now And Proud) provided an opportunity for GLBTQ folks in recovery to play softball in a gay-supported environment. Jason Waddilove, Chris Gabriel and Bill Freeberg co-founded the team, and it has taken on a tremendous life of its own.

From that time, SNAP introduced people into the ECSA and learned to play with a high level of teamwork and sportsmanship. It will always be known as the first team in the ECSA designed for people seeking recovery from addiction.  When created, Waddilove said, “We began planning a recovery team (in 2008). Some of us had played on other teams before, and we thought it was a good idea to form a team that demonstrates what we represent – Living sober in the gay community.”

“We’re bringing a whole new meaning to Seattle Gay Softball!” adds Gabriel, another co-founder.  “Even in terms of sponsors….most teams approach local bars.  As people living in recovery, we felt that we could incorporate ideas of recovery into our sponsorships."  Our sponsors include Carriage Case Collision, Gay City Health Project, and Kaladi Brothers Coffee. We are proud to have them as major supporters of the team and the ECSA.

Snap has enjoyed success in its first three seasons, and hopes that 2012 will be fun, safe and successful for everyone.

GOOOOO SNAP!
